50 shades of grey

I wanted to see what the fuzz was all about. And yes, there is sex, but its not lit-erotica like the media is touting it to be. Its a romantic novel like may be a Sydney Sheldon book, only with a prominent background of sex which is a little more explicit and is actually of different, unconventional nature, not what most people are used to .
But this is very much a book like any other. Its about two people meeting, getting attracted to each other and falling in love and all the relation-shippy kind of things that come with it.
I am on the 400th page and so far it seems like an any ordinary romantic novel to me although I somehow get a feeling that this book has been written keeping in mind that it could very likely meta-metamorphosis in to a TV series or movie in future.
Also since this novel is the first one of a trilogy ( a little disappointed to find that out after I got the book. how am I ever going to find time to read the other two!!!) its more like an introduction in to the plot, easing the readers in to the strange life of Christian Grey. I am guessing that before this book ends, there cud be an unexpected twist, a cliffhanger that might spur me to go and read the two sequels as well.
Love Anastasia's mom. Although her role is brief, she manages to give simple yet useful insights to her daughter about men in general.
The work is not a literary masterpiece but I can see why its popular. Besides the eroticism, it resonates with every young girl or boy experiencing the complicated emotion of love and its trappings for the first time.
In this first book author E L James gives a sneak peek at Christian Grey's dark personality and his unusual sexual preferences while still maintaining to withhold exactly why and how he is the way he is. Most of this book is from the perspective of a normal college graduate Anastasia who finds Christian Grey to be enigmatic and is drawn to him. But even as she gets closer to him, both Anastasia and the readers are not made privy to the mysterious past-life of Mr.Grey but are given a strong impression that there is much more to the man than what meets the eye, that Mr. Grey has a past that seems as intriguing as it is forbidding. Our curiosities are piqued and we want answers to the questions left in our minds.
There is no compelling cliffhanger in the end but the author has left many a loose end in the story that is expected to lead to conclusions in the following two sequels. We would like to know more about Christian because even if his sexual preferences are what we normally consider perverted, we start to feel for him in the end. As for the sequels I am guessing that Ethan probably is going to play a bigger role in Anastasia's life. Then there is Jose, the photographer and of course the controversial Mrs Robinson who I predict is going to come in to new light in future.  So if one has the time and inclination to go in to the dark devious world of Mr.Grey they most very well can but as for me, I don't find myself burning with anxiety to get hold of the next book in the series.
